Protect the Workbook

Every Microsoft Excel Workbook has a structure. The workbook structure includes sheets that are visible, others that are hidden. The structure can also include the size and position of the windows.

 

When you Protect a Workbook, you prevent the users from finding hidden sheets or changing the data. Workbook Protection is applied to the entire workbook and all of the spreadsheets in it.  Before you lock the Workbook you can choose cells you would like unlocked so the users can enter data.

 

2. Try it: Protect a Workbook

Go to a Review ->Changes.

Click on Protect Workbook.

 

What Do You See? By default, there is checkmark to Protect the Structure.

 

You will be prompted to enter a Password. Write it down. Not even Microsoft can unlock a Workbook if you lose the Password.

 

Click CANCEL and keep going...
