Save As a Different Copy

Say you needed to consult with two doctors: Dr. Green and Dr. Cooper. Say the letter you typed to Dr. Green will be the same as letter to Dr. Cooper except you need to edit the name and address. You can use Save As to create another copy, or version of your letter.

Try it: Use Save As to Make A Copy

1.Edit the text

Open the file saved as: Dr Green.

Delete the name Green and type Cooper.

 

2, Where are you going?

Go to Office -> Save As.

Where are you saving it: Documents.

What is the File Name: Doctor Cooper.

 

3. What are you going to do?

Go to Save as Type and choose the Word 97-2003 Document. Click Save.

 

Memo to Self: When you use Save As to create another copy of a Word 97-2003 file, Word uses the same file type as the original.
