Compact and Repair

Before You Begin: Save and Close anything that may be open. As with the other File commands, Access will close all Objects before you start.

Try it: Compact and Repair
Go to
Database Tools->Tools.
Select Compact and Repair Database.

What Do You See? It happens so quickly you may wonder if it worked. If you have a large, fragmented database, you may see a progress bar on the bottom of your Window as the process moves along. Be patient: a big database may take several minutes to Compact and Repair.

When the maintenance is done, your database will open again.
